At the CMT Music Awards on April 2, Gwen Stefani demonstrated that the muppetcore fashion trend can also be stylish. The singer and creator of GXVE Beauty appeared at the awards ceremony wearing a full Valentino couture ensemble, most notably fuzzy boots that might be even more divisive than Miu Miu’s thong boots. Tiers of fine black feathers that fell down from Stefani’s legs and covered a large platform were added to her Y2K-inspired shoes. As she walked down the red carpet with her husband Blake Shelton, her shaggy shoes were nearly impossible to miss.

The rest of Stefani’s ensemble featured a micro miniskirt covered in gold sequins, an oversized jacket, a black tie, and a white button-down shirt and crystals. She completed the ensemble with fishnet stockings, crystal Untamed Petals earrings, multiple rings, red lipstick, and a double-bun haircut with the help of stylists Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn.

Later on in the evening, before performing her 1995 single “Just a Girl” on stage with Carly Pearce, Stefani changed into a red and white polka-dot Versace dress, matching gloves, and buckled platform shoes. She was just one of the many stylish celebrities at the CMT Music Awards; Kelsea Ballerini made her red carpet debut in a grey Dolce & Gabbana dress with boyfriend Chase Stokes, Megan Thee Stallion grabbed attention while presenting an award on stage in a blue hip-cutout Defence gown, and Shania Twain looked stunning in a sheer Prabal Gurung gown.
