When the Tesla she was operating crashed and caught fire late Sunday night in downtown Toronto, a woman is now being charged with driving while intoxicated.

At about 11:40 p.m., firefighters were called to Adelaide Street, which is close to York Street.

Police claim that the driver lost control of the car, causing it to crash into the curb.

Photos from the incident showed the Tesla engulfed in flames as emergency personnel attempted to put it out.

Police said there were no reported injuries.

Police detained the motorist, who was 21 years old, for driving while intoxicated.

The collision caused all lanes of Adelaide Street between York and Bay streets to close.
